Peter Bergman

Since graduating with a highly conceptual art degree in 1996, Peter sought to complement a fine art practice oriented around mass communications by learning as much as possible about printing and print publishing. He has worked as a screen printer assistant, hand stripped film for packaging, and jockeyed PDFs for web offset. He is the proud owner of a 1930 Chandler and Price letterpress in his garage.

After a decade covered in ink, Peter decided to return to school and become a teacher so he could put his skills at the service of young people setting out on their own creative journey. Since 2005, He has taught full time in the Communication Design area of the Art Department of Metropolitan State University of Denver as an Assistant Professor. At MSU Denver, he teaches typography, print production, packaging, and letterpress printing.

Since its incorporation, he has been a board member of The Letterpress Depot — a living letterpress museum which will be opening in 2016 in Engelwood, Colorado’s historic train depot.
