Donate Your Typographic Treasures to the Cabinet of Curiosity

Rare Emigres Ready for the BiddingMr. Downer’s Freshly Painted Helvetica Film ShowcardSOTA will hold a silent auction in the TypeCon marketplace where rare and valuable collectibles can be found. Last year’s auction saw amazing bargains go to some very lucky attendees. We want to keep the dream alive.

SOTA needs items for this fundraiser auction, and you have the things we need. All items of interest to type lovers are welcome and deeply appreciated, including rare books, antique type specimens, signed broadsides and silkscreen posters, out-of-print type and design magazines, rescued wood and metal type, vintage typographic clothing, and all manner of typographic ephemera. Auction proceeds go to help fund SOTA’s educational activities.

So go ahead - clean your closet. It’s for a good cause, and you’ll have room for new type books.

If you wish to donate items or help with the auction in any way, please send an email to auction@typesociety.org, subject line My Typographic Treasure, with the following info:

– Item name and description
– Writer/publisher/designer/etc.
– Estimated value
– Exciting sales blurb or personal anecdote about the item
– Photo

TYPECON2007 STANDALONE EDUCATION FORUM REGISTRATION

MORE DETAILS ON THE EDUCATION FORUM

SOTA is proud to present the TypeCon2007 Type and Design Education Forum, a day of programming created for design educators. We’ve had a number of requests from educators who can’t attend the full conference due to family/work commitments or teaching schedules. In order to allow educators from all walks of life to participate, we've opened up forum registration to non-TypeCon attendees.

Join us at the Crowne Plaza on Thursday, August 2, for this stimulating educational gathering. The registration fee for the forum is just $50.

Standalone Workshops Available at TypeCon2007

TYPECON2007 STANDALONE WORKSHOP REGISTRATION

MORE DETAILS ON THE WORKSHOPS

We have scheduled 25 amazing workshops this year, including some last-minute additions we just couldn't resist. We understand that some bosses won't spring for the full conference, but will pay for a practical workshop or two.

So that as many people as possible can participate in TypeCon, we're opening up some workshops to the general public. Topics include a fantastic new session on type in motion from Apple, how-tos and real-time QA testing of your fonts by the experts at Microsoft, copyright protection for creatives, calligraphy and hand lettering, advanced font production techniques, and many more. Register for your choice before we're full up.
