The Type Crit is back … and online!
The popular Type Crit is back for TypeCon2021 … and we’re taking it virtual.Join us online Sunday, October 24th for an afternoon of lively discussion, constructive criticism, and typographic elucidation.This year, the rules have been modified and we’re offering multiple Type Crit sessions. Each session is lead by a different group of Type Crit’ers, including our very first Type Crit for Spanish speaking type designers.Type Crit Session 1Lead by John Downer & Hannes Famira12:00 pm – 1:15 pm ETType Crit Session 2 (Spanish)Lead by Iliana Moreno Guzmán, Sergio Trujillo Perez & Alex García1:30 pm – 2:45 pm ETType Crit Session 3Lead by Nicole Dotin & Sol Matas3:00 pm – 4:15 pm ETType Crit sessions will take place via Zoom on Sunday, October 24th. Links to each session will be shared on our social media channels and through the TypeCon2021 conference platform, Brandlive. These sessions are open to the public, however conference attendees will receive priority consideration when participants are selected. There are twelve available slots, with each critique lasting approximately 15 minutes.Type Crit Participant Selection GuidelinesTo participate in this year’s Type Crit, please provide the following:
- A PDF specimen, limited to one weight and style only
- Due to time constraints, typeface families will not be considered
- Text faces should show actual text in an appropriate range of sizes
- Specify which Type Crit session (1, 2, or 3) you would like to join, you may choose more than one session
- Email this information to typecrit@typesociety.org by end of day, Saturday, October 23rd
