TypeCon 2026 Needs You: Join Our Volunteer Team!

Volunteers setting up TypeCon 2016 in Seattle, WA, USA.

TypeCon 2026 is heading back to Portland, OR, and we couldn't be more thrilled — this year marks our 26th annual conference!

As a volunteer-run, non-profit conference presented by the Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA), TypeCon is only possible because of people like you: passionate, creative, and generous with their time.

Whether you're a seasoned type enthusiast or someone just discovering the world of typography, volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways to be part of this community.

There are many ways to get involved, both at the conference and throughout the year leading up to it. On-site volunteers are the heartbeat of TypeCon — helping with set-up, registration, and making sure attendees feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

Behind the scenes, we also need dedicated folks to help with speaker and sponsorship outreach, social media and communications, and volunteer coordination. Every role makes a real difference, and in return, volunteers receive free admission to the main conference program.

Whether you're looking to build your skills, expand your network, or simply give back to a community that has given so much to type and design, we'd love to have you on the team. TypeCon26 runs August 6–8 in Portland, OR, USA, and we want you there helping us make it great.
