TypeCon & SOTA Scholarship for TypeParis26
TypeCon and the Society of Typographic Aficionados are proud to announce the 6th edition of our scholarship program to TypeParis26 — an incredible six-week typographic summer intensive in Paris, France. Since 2019, the TypeCon Scholarship will have allowed 6 women whose work you can discover, Olga Vasik, Aline Yoshimatsu, Andrea Hayek, Quỳnh Hương Nguyen, Dana Al Assir, Thitawan Noenpoempisut, to participate in this type design course.
In 2026, one selected female applicant will join fourteen fellow attendees in the heart of the city for 340 hours of immersive education in type design, lettering, and calligraphy — on us! This year’s intensive will take place from June 2nd to July 10th, 2026.
The team for Typeparis26 is a fantastic bunch of folks! We’ve got Jean François Porchez (FR), the brilliant mind behind TypeParis, as well Léo Guibert (FR), Greg Lindy (USA), Ruggero Magrì (IT), Mathieu Réguer (FR), Gina Serret (ES-FR), Malou Verlomme (FR). They’re all going to make this event a real treat! Special sessions planned with Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer from Glyphs. Our instructors are absolute legends! They go above and beyond to make sure you learn and grow. They genuinely care about your success.
In addition to our regular instructors, we’ll be have some special guests spend a day with attendees. They’ll review each typeface project one by one, giving their expert feedback. Our guest critics for 2026 are Laura Meseguer (ES), Thomas Bouillet (FR), Jovana Jocić (RS), Ilya Naumoff (FR).
This scholarship award covers tuition costs for TypeParis26, a €5,480 value. Travel, lodging, and meals are the responsibility of the recipient.
The recipient will be asked to summarize their experience and share photographs, recollections, and stories in a series of blog posts to be published on the TypeCon site, after the intensive course has concluded, as well posts on social media, as such for 2025 https://www.instagram.com/p/DOdhkaMD-bd/
How do I apply?
You must be a female graphic designer, typographer, web designer, educator, or recent design graduate between the ages of 18 and 32, currently residing outside of the United States, Canada, or the EU (+Switzerland, UK), who would like to develop their typographic skills in one of the most beautiful cities on Earth.
Scholarship applications should be submitted via email and are due by Saturday, January 31st, 2025, 11:59 pm PST.
The recipient will be announced on February 16th, 2026 on the TypeCon site.
What do I need to submit?
Prepare a single A4-sized PDF named “yourname-familyname-typeparis26” that is no larger than 10MB.
Your PDF should include the following
Portfolio: Up to twelve graphic/typographic design projects (one per page). These projects should demonstrate your proficiency in graphic design, typography, and lettering, as well as your knowledge of Bézier curves. (You do not need to be an expert, but you should have a basic understanding of Béziers to apply.) If a project involves multiple people, please state your role.
Curriculum résumé: A single-page résumé detailing your creative background, any specific courses or workshops you have previously undertaken, proficiency in software applications including Adobe Illustrator, and your experience in traditional techniques or skills (calligraphy, lettering, etc.) if any.
Contact information and motivation: On a single-page, write 250 words (maximum) describing your interest (and experience is a plus) in typeface design and lettering. Contact details including full name, email address, telephone number, home address, and country of residency, birth date, and a scan or photocopy of a current ID card validating your age and country of residency. When you’ve compiled your PDF, email typeparis@typesociety.org with your first and last name, as well as the words “typeparis26 application” in your subject line.
