2027 is the year of reinvention!

TypeCon and the Society of Typographic Aficionados are proud to announce the 8th edition of our scholarship program to TypeParis27 Spring type design course (in English). After 10 years in Paris, we reinvent our type design programme. We go from 6 weeks to 3 weeks, while maintaining the fundamentals that make TypeParis’ reputation. The course will take place in Menorca, Spain for the first time, starting on 5 April and ending 24 April 2027.

In 2027, two levels are proposed: Foundation and Expert, which allow you to discover type design, or to gain expertise after an initial training. In short, Foundation level welcomes graphic designers with no experience in type design, as well as those who have designed lettering pieces and modular fonts. In comparison, Expert level is tailored for type designers, including those who’ve published more complete fonts. It aims to deepen their knowledge. See the official typeparis page for more detailed explanations of each level. You can submit to any of them.

Our team for TypeParis27 is a fantastic bunch of folks! Our instructors are absolute legends! They go above and beyond to make sure you learn and grow. They genuinely care about your success! ‍We’ve got Jean François Porchez (FR), the brilliant mind behind TypeParis, as well Léo Guibert (FR), Ruggero Magrì (IT), Jovana Jocić (RS), Léon Hugues (FR). They’re all going to make this type course a real treat! They’re all going to make this event a real treat! Type tech sessions planned with George Seifert and Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer who launched Glyphs app. Our guest critics for 2027 are Mário Feliciano (PT) and Mathieu Réguer (FR). At the end of the day, they’ll also present their work, sharing their experience and advice.

This scholarship award covers tuition costs for TypeParis Spring27 in Menorca, a €3,950 value. Travel, lodging, and meals are the responsibility of the recipient.

The recipient will be asked to summarize their experience and share photographs, recollections, and stories in a series of blog posts to be published on the TypeCon site, after the intensive course has concluded: https://www.typecon.com/news/typeparis-experience as well as posts on social media, as done for 2025  https://www.instagram.com/p/DOdhkaMD-bd/
